According to the National Wine Board of Georgia, in 2018, Georgia exported a record 86.2 million bottles of wine to 53 countries, with Russia, Ukraine and China among the top three.

In a statement on January 4th, the National Winery of Georgia said that in 2018 Georgia sold about $203 million in wine overseas, and its exports increased by 13%, and its income increased by 20% compared with 2017. Among them, Russia, Ukraine and China imported 33.6 million bottles, 10.6 million bottles and 6.95 million bottles of wine from Georgia in 2018.

Georgian winemakers say they have high expectations for China’s growing wine imports, which is a significant driver of Georgia’s rapid growth in wine exports in the future.

Georgian analysts say that with the opening up of Georgia and the continued growth of China’s economy, China will become the largest wine export destination in Georgia in the near future.
